Granat plans to bring an elite skier, a tennis player, a baseball players, a golfer and a soccer player when he appears on the show.
Dr. Granat wants to explain how he helps athletes to manage pressure, avoid choking and get into the zone more often. He will talk about the relationships between athletes, coaches and parents and he will outline some of the techniques and strategies he uses to help athletes manages anger, frustration, setbacks and all the emotions of competing at a high level.
"Athletes, parents and coaches can learn a lot by listening to these young competitors. Each of them had some different issues when they came to see me. Some were struggling with nerves. Others had focusing problems. Some were in a slump. Some kids call me after they have a bad performance. And some suffer because they perfectionists and self-critical, says Dr. Granat.
Recently, Dr. Granat lectured to an Olympic Gold Medalist from Japan and twenty therapists who came to America to learn about his methods for counseling athletes.
He also recently spoke to parents, athletes and coaches who attended a mental toughness training seminar sponsored by www.hoopdreamz.org. Billy Armstrong, the basketball standout, and founder of HoopDreamz.org and Dr. Granat have worked together to help young basketball players to perform better.
Next week, Dr. Granat will lecture to golfers at Drive 495 in New York City. He will teach golfers how to master the mental aspects of this sport.
